About the Choir

We are Foothills Community Choir (FCC), a non-audition chorus dedicated to the joy of singing in community with others. FCC is open to teens and adults with a desire to sing a variety of music. We are an independent, nonprofit organization that exists for the purpose of encouraging the appreciation of vocal music in the Denver metro community at large.

Our choir celebrates a rich and diverse repertoire, performing a wide range of music from various genres and cultures. We have no specific religious or organizational affiliations, focusing solely on the joy of musical expression and the unifying power of song.

History

Foothills Community Choir is part of a long history of vocal excellence in Colorado. In 2004, a group of singers in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains started the Wheat Ridge Community Chorale to encourage the appreciation of vocal music in the Denver area. The choir has taken on new life several times since then, most recently in 2021 as Foothills Community Choir. Some of our members have been singing with the choir off and on since its inception, and many new voices have found us along the way. FCC strives to honor both our history and our growth in all of our work.

2023 Spring concert

Join Us

FCC is in session at least twice a year. Each session consists of approximately 12 weeks of regular rehearsals, one dress rehearsal, and at least one performance. The spring session runs from approximately February to May, and the fall session runs from approximately September to December. We sometimes offer a summer session depending on member interest and staff availability. Singers can participate in as many or as few sessions as is convenient for you, although once you see how much fun we have, we bet you’ll keep coming back!

Rehearsals are held Tuesday evenings from 7 – 9 PM.  We currently rehearse and perform at Jefferson Avenue United Methodist Church, located at 4425 Kipling Street, Wheat Ridge, CO 80033.

Membership dues are paid on a sliding scale, usually $70-$100 per cycle.* All dues go towards rehearsal space, our music director, accompanist, music licenses, and other related expenses. A refundable music and/or choir folder deposit may also be requested at the beginning of each cycle.

* Inability to pay dues should never be a factor. Some waivers available.
